Butcher Salesman

Trying to find the exact description of the occupation: Butchers Salesman.
This would have been in Govan, Glasgow prior to 1925.
Would he have been a trained butcher?
If so, how would he have trained?
What would the day to day job involve?  Would the job be considered a trade or ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

A Butchers Salesman was just a shop assistant, not a trained butcher.
