Gehagen surname

On FreeBMD I was looking at Gunter Gloria J, mother Gahegan Manchester June 1/4.
Directly underneath it says Hodkinson Gloria J, mother Gahagan, Manchester June 1/4

Can someone please explain what that means?

This birth was in 1947 - is this person still alive as Rootschat has a no living persons policy

It almost certainly means that the birth was registered under both the mother's surname and the father's surname.

For this to happen the father had to be present at the registration, and give his permission.

The actual Birth Certificate will make things clearer.

hello - you have lost me now I knew Gloria unfortunately gone now do you know who her parents were

You will have to buy a copy of her birth cert to get her parents names as there is no marriage between the 2 names shown on her birth reg

There are marriages for her on both freebmd and Cheshire bmd

What year did she die as there is no obit or any mention of her at all?

I don't know what year it was I was looking for a friend. I will tell her to send for a birth certificate. thank you
