Jamjar; Thank you and the two names you have referred to are mother and daughter of which we have  similar information to you.

Thank you Ros and yes these have been ruled out.

I might add here that Henry was born in Ireland 13/7/1830 and his father's name was Thomas but do not have the name of his mother.

Thank you Ros for the paper notices of marriages of two of Henry's children.

Gerry I must thank you too for the information that you posted. It is something we could look further into.

Mus, that was interesting information too.

Yes Gerry it would be an idea to check out the Clarence History group.

I think our main search centres around the death of Henry or Harry CRANSTON either in the Grafton region or the Leichhardt area between 1890 and possibly 1904.

Nothing so far has come to light at this point in time.

On the headstone the inscription for Henrietta does not mention Henry:

Youngest daughter of Eliza Cranston

Thank you Jamjar. The fact that her father was not named is interesting.
Maybe husband and wife had an earlier parting of the ways.
Are you aware of a site recording divorces particularly in the period 1890 to 1900.

You may have noticed that in the death notice for Henrietta it said she was of Perth. I was hoping she was there with her father, but alas no, it was brother Edward who was there.

I looked on state records and couldn't see a divorce. There may not have been one. He could have just left. Or, he's died and we just can't find him.

I think the Henry mentioned in Trove notices may be his son Walter Henry, rather than Henry Snr.

One of the children's death certs should say whether father is deceased.

I would think that at the death of her brother Henrietta was only visiting and not of Perth but then who knows!
A check of the death of all children may be needed to  ascertain if Henry was recorded as deceased.
I  tend to agree it is a possibility that the parents just separated and that Henry died at an unknown time and place.

Householder, Henry Cranston, Southampton, Clarence River, household has 1M.
 
This Henry is not Walter Henry because Walter is at Hillgrove with 2 M and 3F.
