Can anyone help in finding out more about David Runchman who married Beatrix Reid, I have found this entry for their daughter but nothing for the parents marriage and family. Did they also emigrate to America?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FM9X-CL7

Daughter Helen married Charles Tempero 1849 in Lisbon, Waukesha, Wisconsin, United States; he left Liverpool for America in1842.
This FIND A GRAVE Link has Helen's birth year as 1830

Scotland's People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk also has
Jean Runchman, baptised 15 September 1821 in Glasgow, parents David Runchman and Beatrice Reid
Richard Runchman, baptised 2 September 1823 in Glasgow, parents David Runchman and Bridget Reid (probably a clerical error for Beatrice).

A Richard Runchman was in Glasgow, listed as aged 25, in 1851.

I wonder if the name has been a variant or an error for Runciman? There is a baptism of Margaret Runceman on 6 October 1814 in Barony (Glasgow) to David Runceman and Beatrix Reid.

Helen and Jane Runciman, both listed as aged 15, are both living at 5 Newport Street, Edinburgh in the 1841 census. Ages in 1841 were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 years, and Jean is interchangeable with Jane, so this could be your Helen and her sister Jean.

Judging by the 1841 and 1851 censuses, the names Runciman, Runceman and Runchman seem to be very much concentrated in south-eastern Scotland, but early references to it are mostly in north-east Scotland.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Remember that FS has only an ***index***, and an incomplete one at that, of what is on Scotland's People.

Also the FreeCEN transcription of the 1841 census has only Ann Munro, Jane Munro, the two Runciman girls and John Herriot in the household, so you must check the original on Scotland's People to see whether the Rutherfords etc are a separate household.
