Pyne Family name - Kolkata (Calcutta) India
« on: Monday 28 August 17 15:51 BST (UK) »
Dear all

Am interested to find out if anything is known of the origin of the Pyne family name in Kolkata - sparked by the presence of the artist Ganesh Pyne who came from a prominent family apparently based in Calcutta. Am very familiar with English resources and the surname, but not sure where to start with tracing the name in India. Any suggestions on where to go - more specific locally based message Board perhaps?
Thanks
Jeremy

Someone has been wandering the pyne-coffin  trail in india on rootschat. I was interested because i have been investigating a General coffin.

Might be worth you following that.

Have a look under other countries. Pyne in the falklands too.

The India Office Family Search sometimes has references that FIBIS.org doesn't: https://indiafamily.bl.uk

Familysearch.org has India records as well.
