where did Hugh Clarkson get to?
« on: Monday 28 August 17 16:28 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please help me find the death of Hugh Clarkson, stock jobber?
He was born on 3 Jan. 1864.
In the 1911 census he was at Brick House farm, Corringham near Stanford le Hope.
His widow Harriett Edith died in Stanford le Hope in 1949, but nowhere in the intervening years can I find his death or a probate record.

I think he would have been a bit old for war service; in any case I have an idea he was alive in 1921.

I thought perhaps he went to Canada, where two of his sons had settled, but I can't find him there either.
Does some kind soul have access to more records than I do (or is just a better detective)?

Are you sure that Hugh is in Stanford le Hope in 1911  ::)

This one appears to match the 1939 Hugh

and this one with no Hugh

Thank you, Rosie.  It all looks very suspicious, doesn't it?

Not really suspicious, he obviously found someone new  ;D

Hugh & Clara can be found on electoral registers together until the 1950's

Adultery's not my scene.  That must be where I went wrong.
