Born in Yorkshire, died in Naples
« on: Tuesday 29 August 17 11:05 BST (UK) »
I have a John Walker [1804-1830] whose family were big in Brighouse, West Yorkshire in the 18th/19th century.  He married Francis (Fanny) Esther Penfold in 1829, and died [19th January 1830] in Naples on their honeymoon.

I am trying to find out where John was interred.  One on-line source implies that he was buried in the family church at Lightcliffe (near Brighouse), but the church records don’t support this, and whilst his body may have been brought back to England (pickled in brandy, like Horatio Nelson?), there is no evidence to back this up.

My question is: where & how would I go about searching for burials of an Englishman in Naples, Italy in 1830?

Any advice / guidance would be appreciated

I am beginning to suspect that I may not have posted this on the most appropriate Board.

Can anyone suggest which would be a better location?

The Europe board is probably a better place for this.

There's an English cemetery in Naples https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Cemetery,_Naples

You could ask the Mods to move it so it is not in two places  :)

It's usually better to use the "Reply to Moderator" button? ;D
