I dumped my old M/S Works (Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Database) which is about 20 years old and now use Libre Office.

Falkyrn, Please update us on the O365 link thing? TVM!

R

It is dependent upon the laptop manufacturer - some provide a link some provide a timed trial of either Office 365 or just Word (the 365 version) - Windows 10 already has "hooks" in the internals to facilitate the integration of either.

Early days for me but I seem to have sussed Libre and liking it.

I have the same problem with my win 10 pc which is a few months old and Office 2010.  So far, I've "lived" with the going through configuration every time I open Word. I don't think it has anything to do with support coming to an end.

thank you for the link... I'll take a browse round and see if I can find a solution that works.

Seems MS have created a little "fix" on this issue which you just download and run. It does a restore point then it's fixed!  I have tested and opened word just fine in super fast time  ::)

LizzieW, I agree with you... we have paid for the product, and I see no reason why I should move to their latest download or a free Office app.

Lizzie, I use Libre (and previously open office) without problem for several years. Only thing to remember and it soon becomes a habit I'd to save in word format or others can't open your letters.

Hi Roger

That was a question I was going to ask.

By the way we have now moved to Barton on Sea.

As I said Lizzie you soon get used to it.Onebthing that is interesting is that a doc or docx file is much bigger than an ODTfile The native file cfir Libre. Are you fixed up with a FHS in Barton yet?.
