She is just as elusive, though very possibly in 1871 at Winscombe, Somerset.  A tangled web...

Lowry is in the 1881 census at Radley College. Do you have that? Ancestry has transcribed his name as John W Norton.

am also seeking the younger son Samuel, birth regn Andover, Hants, Q3 1867

Are you sure that is one of Henry and Adah's children? There was a bootmaker named George North in Chute, Andover who had a son Samuel about that time. His wife's maiden name was Mann per the GRO index for births of his other children.

I think you are right.  The name Mann, with North, had me on the wrong trail.  I knew about Henry and Radley Coll. but my searches of censuses did not show him up as there.
Fresh start with a clearer head tomorrow!

A pity the names are not matched to the team, but a great photo, thanks again.

Yes, Ellen North aged 6 from Claughton, Also with the Rev John A Yatman JP in Winscombe is "Lucy" North aged 4 from Wallasey, (I wonder if "Lucy" was in fact Lowry) and Elizabeth North, 39, born Everton (is that the wife of Henry's brother Sir Ford North perhaps?).

Ellen North (16) from Claughton is at Miss Margaret Clarke's school in Warrington Crescent, Paddington in 1881.

It appears that she married Henry Leslie Randall at Christ Church Lancaster Gate on 30 November 1893. One of the witnesses was a North.

Yes that is definitely Ellen's marriage. Uncle Ford North was there (and that witness signature must be his):

Wonderul detail, even down to the hymn numbers.
I am struggling to keep pace with you.  I had found Ellen's path through the censuses as far as 1911, and her marriage.
The thought of Lucy being Lowry is very tempting and I shall look again.  I do not have that Elizabeth in my tree so far, and will have to search for her earlier life.
