Kingdon family Bratton Fleming
« on: Thursday 31 August 17 20:09 BST (UK) »
Hi everybody

I'm trying to follow the ancestors of Joseph Kingdon born 1844 Bratton Fleming. I'd be very grateful for any help.

Thanks in advance

David

You don't say what facts you have uncovered so far.  Have you obtained a marriage certificate for your Joseph KINGDON which will give his father's name and occupation?

Joseph kingdon in 1851. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGJD-NS8

Prudence and grace appear to have a mmn of Bale, so re marriage is a possibility

Hi
Father John baptised 29.5.1815 at Bratton Fleming s of Thomas and Mary a labourer.?
Grave for Grace is on Find a Grave at Bratton Fleming Feb 3 !884

www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=158762529&ref=acom
It has a photo of the Grave.
Lots of different maiden names for the children so marriage is a bit of a problem.
John and Grace Bale Barnstaple Dec 1837 10 35

David, if you are still around and searching.....

I would also agree with ciderdrinker and that you should consider that John Kingdon bp. 25 Jun 1815 Bratton Fleming was the son of Thomas Kingdon and Mary Jarman, who married 1 Apr 1807 in High Bray.
At least one of his siblings was born in High Bray; others in Bratton Fleming, then his parents have returned to High Bray for the last few children, then he settled in Brayford and Charles before his death.
I would also agree that he married Grace Bale with the first few chn born in Swimbridge then the remainder in Bratton Fleming.
The rest of your lot, I would like to know more. You could send a private message.

It would be my opinion that the grandparents of John Kingdon (1815 Bratton Fleming) are also my ancestors Joseph Kingdon and Joanna Kingdon, who married 25 Mar 1771 Charles, Devon.

John's father Thomas Kingdon had some other siblings who ventured towards Bratton Fleming and Stoke Rivers and were also ag lab. on Ridaway farm, Stoke Rivers, Devon
