William Daniels deported October 1933

Hi Folks
I’m helping my cousin with his research into his Daniels Family, his Father William Daniels born in London about 1905 went to Australia in 1923 destination port Melbourne, he was deported in 1933 according to the Australian National Archives, -  "deportee ex goal Sydney" – departure per Ballarat in October 1933.

Can anyone help me as to where I can find the information as to what he did and why he  was deported please.

I am not familiar with researching Australian records

A William DANIELS aged 26, labourer pleaded guilty in 1932 to having been found at night with intent to commit a felony.

Richard TARRANT, the accomplice of William DANIELS in 1932, had a long record of entering and theft and other criminal activity from Sydney to Cairns over the years.

He seemed able to contrive extraordinary excuses for his conduct on the occasion of his multiple arrests

He was likely deported because he now had a criminal record.

These days, any non-citizen gaoled for one year or more is automatically deported when released from gaol, in Oz (whatever the crime).

Thanks Sue you have confirmed what I have found regarding his departure and arrival in England, Thanks Dawn interesting about deportment if anyone has a criminal record, my concern at the moment is I need confirmation that the William Daniels who went to prison is the same man as my Cousin's father, are there any records for men sent to prison, i.e what prison they were sent to also any personal details so I can confirm this is one and the same person.

My cousin has been chatting to his brother who believes that their father joined the Communist Party while in Australia, and that he was deported because of this connection, are there any records about  members of this Party and could he have gone to prison for maybe causing trouble.
