Can I convert a Word doc to a jpg or gif?
« on: Friday 01 September 17 14:23 BST (UK) »
I have a Microsoft Word document.

Is there any way of converting this to an image file other than printing it, scanning the printout and saving the scan as an image?  (I have tried this, but the definition is quite poor).

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Philip

Yes, Snip tool is the way to go. Depending on the size of your document, you might need to do several snips and stitch them together in Photoshop or similar.

If you haven't got something like that, you could send me the document and I'll do it for you.

You can do it on-line if you so wish.

Where would I find the Windows Snipping Tool?  I have MS Office 10 and I can't see it on Word.

It's not part of Office. It is part of Windows and can be found in Windows Accessories. Or type Snipping Tool in the search box bottom left of your task bar.

Click on the Windows logo, bottom left.
Then find the Accessories folder.
Click on that, and scroll down to Snipping Tool.

Another way is to select what you want in your Word document and then copy or cut and paste it into Paint.  Then it's a quick Save As and choose the format you want, jpg or gif etc.

I find that this is quick and easy if I'd like to save a transcription for my family tree software for instance.
