I'm not sure which version of Office I have but if I have a document open and select print one of the options it comes up with is to print to a PDF file (so it doesn't print at all, but it creates a PDF of the document).

My version (MS Office 10) has the same option.  The problem for me is that the imaging software I have doesn't let me manipulate pdf files.

The Snipping Tool has solved the problem.
