Mary Jane Tindale b Q3 1873 Middleton St George, Durham
« on: Friday 01 September 17 14:58 BST (UK) »
The above was the daughter of James Tindale and Sarah Jane nee Gibson, she married John Edward Blake (b1863) at Darlington, Durham Q4 1893. They had 6 children, 1 of whom passed away in 1902.
At 1911 John Edward  was living as a married boarder at 40 Victoria Rd Grangetown but Mary wasn't there; 2 of their children, Elizabeth aged 13 and Edith 11 are classed as orphans living at Worsley House, North Ormesby. Alice May 16 was living with her uncle John; David was living with his Blake grandparents and Florence was a boarder with the Wanless family at 30 Percy Street, Middlesbrough.
I can find no death for Mary Jane prior to 1911 but one in 1923 Middlesbrough.
Do you think that she was ill at 1911 and couldn't look after her children or can you find her elusive death record please?

She should still be on the 1911 census, even if in a hospital or home or institution.

Yes I agree but I can't find her unless she's been misrecorded?

Mary Jane Blake
admitted to Midsbro, 29 May 1906
died 29 Mar 23
Lunacy Patients Admission Registers, Rate-Aided Admissions Jan-Dec 1906

So you need to look for her in the Middlesbrough Asylum in 1911. Maybe by initials only.

Thank you very much for finding that information, it's another avenue that I'd forgotten about but you've certainly solved the mystery for me.
Once again many thanks.
