He's the one who married Julia Knox as I mentioned in reply#4. He is listed in Dublin directories as an attorney.

Thank you.  The document mentions Robert Carlisle Williams and George Robert Williams but I don't think either of them are related.  I'll keep looking.

I think John Andrew Williams was in Newcastle-on-Tyne in the 1861 census?

Campbell William Williams' daughter Hannah Maria Williams was married in Newcastle in 1864.

Hannah M  Williams of Dublin was a stewardess on Benjamin Taylor's ship Earl Percy in the 1861 census. The Earl Percy was wrecked in 1865.

Thank you for your replies.  I already have all the information on John Andrew Williams when he was in England.  He was a ship's engineer and he is in the census for 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, and 1901.  He married Jane Gill in April 1871 in Newcastle and they had a daughter Maria Julia in 1872.  Jane died in 1876 and in 1877 he married Jane's sister Emma Gill in West Ham, Essex.  At the time it was illegal to marry your late wife's sister.  They had six children, one of whom was my grandfather.  I imagine John was a protestant but I don't know for certain.  I have all the records for his life in England and I have the marriage certificate for John and Emma.  That's how I know his father's name and profession.  In the 1861 census it says John was born in Ireland, Queenstown.  In 1871 it just says he was born in Cork, Ireland.
What I'm interested in is finding out about his Irish roots.  His father was just a solicitor, not an attorney so I don't think the attorney in Dublin is part of our family.  John must have come over to England before 1861 or in 1861 when he would have been 20 years old or less so maybe I can find something out by going down that route.
