Hi Annie,

Sorry not to give a reference for the 1861,it was getting late, I had to go to sleep!

I've been looking at the same 1851 as Jen B, and the same 1871 as WolfieSmith - Alan.  On another site the 1871 occupation is shown as Auctioneer, and I think it ties up OK with the 1861 I suggested.  A 'Register Office' is similar to an employment agency, and there is one advertised at 118 West Nile Street in the 1860s and 1870s, and it seems to diversify into arranging lodgings, which might link to 'Auctioneer'.  And the un-named 'wife' is born Middlesex, which is the same as the possible 1851 Caroline.

1871 census.

118 West Nile St., Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire,
William Henderson, 46, Anchinen (?), b. Paisley, Renfrewshire,
Mrs Henderson, wife, 46, Ambores wife (?), b. London, (possibly Tamborer)?

Ahh, thank you WS, that's why I couldn't find her, no forename just 'Mrs'  ::)
Will download the original with my last 6 credits after getting the 1861!

Thank you Cas & Jen,

Will follow those leads, looking great & from knowing nothing you have all came up with great info.

I had Caroline on the back burner for a long time as I couldn't piece her life together & was revisiting that 'branch' yesterday.

Thank you Droysbont,

All does look to be a good fit after so many years & a classic example of info. on a death cert. being only as good as the informants knowledge although a great help with the info. that was given with the 'Henderson' connection in the end.

This may lead me to a birth/bapt?

I suggested her baptism in my earlier reply  :-\

Apologies, had edited Reply #12 so didn't see this post at the time :-[

Thanks for all the help, I now feel I know a bit about Caroline  :D

1871 census.

Thanks WS...I would never have found her on SP!

Thanks Drosybont...

Just to clarify, the SP image gives William's occ. as Auctioneer & 'Mrs' as Auctioneers wife although her age here is 44 (1827)...

That's a wee bit closer to the truth (1820) & with that sort of job I think she must have hid her age well  :P

Now, where is she in 1881  ???

Unfortunately 'Mrs' doesn't show up on a SP search i.e. if William has died & she's using 'Mrs' she will remain a mystery!
