Looking for grave information for.

'William Bell . Chapel Cottage . Warwick-on-Eden . Died 5th January 1956 aged 82 years .'

My late father made a note that this was his grandfather's inscription however I don't know where.

Any assistance appreciated. Around Aglionby area? Anglican .

It would be unusual for a grave inscription to have that type of wording.  It's more likely to be a factual record of his death

This is the only entry matching a January 1956 death but it has no middle name

William Bell  age    82  March qtr 1956  Carlisle 1a  30

There is a probate entry here - just William Bell but address is as given by you above except it was Chapel House - not Chapel Cottage and date of death was 2.1.1956 not 5.1.1956

There is an Anglican Church, Warwick on Eden - St Leonards, other possibilities would be the cemetry in Wetheral not far away from Warwick or the main cemetery in Carlisle.

The death notice in the paper might give a clue.

I have found him on the 1939 register as a retired plumber (widower) The entries above him are individuals living in Chapel House. His entry is Chapel (something?) living on his own. The original register is a bit obscured by ink blots.

The probate record referred by Carole confirms he died in Carlisle infirmary. The information I originally supplied was obtained by my father from the then Rural Dean of Brampton. I wonder then if the Dean was referring to a burial record i.e. Death 2 Jan 1956 Burial 5 Jan 1956?
