Burke of Ashford, Co. Armagh
« on: Sunday 03 September 17 07:51 BST (UK) »
Has anyone any knowledge of the Burke family of Ashford, Co. Armagh. Anne Burke married Simon Rock in 1825 but her fathers name was not recorded. Am I correct that Ashford was in the parish of Tynan. Anyway, it would be nice to find other Burke family members.

I can't link to the exact spot on the OSI Mapviewer using iPad but Ashford Church is in the townland of Unshog.
Which can't be searched for on the OSI because it's in NI.

Unshog is indeed in the parish of Tynan.  See www.thecore.com/seanruad/
Tynan is near the lower edge of OSNI map sheet 19, but I don't see either Ashford or Unshog: possibly on sheet 28 which I don't have.

Bagwell of Kilmore & Lisronagh, Co. Tipperary;  Beatty from Enniskillen;  Brown from Preston, Lancs.;  Burke of Ballydugan, Co. Galway;  Casement in the IoM and Co. Antrim;  Davison of Knockboy, Broughshane;  Frobisher;  Guillemard;  Harrison in Co. Antrim and Dublin;  Jones around Burton Pedwardine, Lincs.;  Lindesay of Loughry;  Newcomen of Camlagh, Co. Roscommon;  Shield;  Watson from Kidderminster;  Wilkinson from Leeds

fingerscrossed

In the R. C. arrangements the parish is divided into the Upper and Lower parishes, each having a chapel, one of which is in the village of Tynan, and the other at Ashford near Middleton :
