I have just started researching our family tree. One of our lines is Mullan.

I have details of my grandfather Derek Henry A Mullan b 1923 (Belfast) - d 1954 (Coventry) and we know that his siblings were James, Agnas, Isabella, Norman & Lily. I have the names of his parents James (b circa 1885) and Margaret Jane (b circa 1886 - d 1973) married circa 1904 but I am unable to find their marriage details, Margaret's maiden name or any details for Norman and Lily.

I have found them on the 1911 Irish Census before Lily & Norman where born.

We know Margaret left Ireland without her husband at some point and came to England. We also know that Lily remained a spinster and that Isabella married into the Asply/Aspley family and had two sons Billy and Freddy. I understand that both Margaret and Lily are buried in London Road Cemetery in Coventry.

Any help would be gratefully received - Many Thanks Deborah (Mullan)

The Irish Civil Registration Index should show Mother's maiden name for any of the children's births?

Isabella Frances Mullan born 1908 in Belfast to James Mullan and Margaret Jane Dowie.

So, could be the James Mullan to Margaret Jane Doey marriage of 11th April 1904. He lived at 17 and she at 13 Disraeli Street, Belfast, respective father's James and Benjamin.

James Mullan b 15/4/1906, mmn Doey,

Agnes Mullan, b 13/6/1904, mmn Doey

Worth considering this for James and his parents etc at 1901, even if only to rule it out:

and likewise, this for Margaret and her parents etc:

Yes that's the family on the 1911 Census - Thank you very much ... it sounds like the information you have given me could be a fit. I had found Doey as an option when looking at marriage records too.

The information above has really helped, it was a fit and I have also managed to find Norman's full details. Plus two generations back for James (father and grandfather)

I'm still struggling to find Lily. It has been suggested that maybe she was a Lillian or Elizabeth and possibly born between 1908 and 1918 in Belfast. I'm also looking for the maiden name of Margaret Doey/Dowie's mother Susan. Looking like her and Benjamin married circa 1883/4.

If anyone out there has any information that may help please get in touch.

Thanks in advance.
