Tittle family
« on: Sunday 03 September 17 16:55 BST (UK) »
Anyone any information on the Tittle family of Llanelly. Frederick Samuel Tittle  (didnt always use those forenames) was born there in mid 1800s according to Census before moving to Staffordshire. But can't find any references to family in Wales. Strange as not a common surname. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Problem is with illiterate people (and potentially not English speakers) the potentail for mis-spelling is high

Noting from 1871 he was b c1842, could this be his birth?

Frederick Samuel Tickle
Q1 1842
Llanelly  Vol 26, p552
mmn Robinson

1861? In 24 William St Burslem

Samuel Tickler    44, potter b Chesterton [?]
Ann Tickler    52 b Burselm
Frederick Tickler    18 potter b Llanelly
Mary Tickler    15 b Burslem
Samuel Tickler    12 b Burslem

there are a few Tickle/Robinson births in Burslem, including for Mary & Samuel in the right time frames

RG 9/1929/45/ p39

From the birth records of the Tittle children their MMN was Haywood.

1851 - as transcribed by Ancestry. details basically as before

Samuel Pickle    35
Ann Pickle    42
Frederick Saml Pickle    8 - b Carmarthen
Mary Pickle    5
Samual Pickle    2

HO107, 2003, 472, 1

There's an Emily Tickle mmn Robinson b Burselm in 1840, and an Emily Tickle aged 2 dies in Llanelli in 1842

Thanks for those replies. They are a great help. I had looked at variations of name but hadn't thought of Tickler!!!
