Frances Elizabeth Muirhead Paull married second to George Beckett Robathan in Islington in 1877, they lived in Risca in Monmouthshire, my Grandfather Francis Paull Robathan was their son. I am keen to understand why Frances took her godmother's name as her  middle names also how her god mother was buried in the same grave in Arnos Vale Bristol as Frances's father, mother and his 2 subsequent wives....I believe Elizabeth Muirhead originated from Jamaica.

Elizabeth Muirhead was born c1785 in Kingston, Jamaica.

1851 census:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGBQ-1FW

She died in 1859:
June qtr 1859
Clifton Registration District     vol 6a, page 48
Muirhead, Elizabeth    (GRO Index has her at age 76)

Francis didn't simply "take" her name - she was baptised and registered with those names ;D
And given them by her parents.

Keen to understand the Jamaica connection for Frances Elizabeth Muirhead Robathan's god mother. If she was born in Jamaica was she the offspring of plantation owner or slave?

If she is the Elizabeth Muirhead/Muyrhead that KG has listed above then she was a Widow according to the 1851 census. (Age 66 bn Kingston, Jamaica)

Probate index has her with Effects under £300

May be a complete red-herring, but . . .

April 1 1825, Mr. Robert B. Muirhead, Receiver-General of Jamaica resigns, with a financial deficiency of £80,452.
http://www.jamaicanfamilysearch.com/Members/e/epapers01.htm

Full name: Robert Boyes Muirhead
It would appear that he was a trustee of the Presbyterian Institution of Kingston, Jamaica.
