Thomas b1798 would have been too young to take on an apprentice in 1808 or to father Charles c1811.

Thats why I said dodgy Dates .Probable transcription error for Thomas's DoB.

Think there are two Thomases b c1770 and 1798 - father and son?? as i have noted both in Edenbridge in 1841, both fellmongers

there's no transcription of age on the apprentice records I can see

Thank you everyone who gave me information.  I had not found Amelia's maiden name or Sarah's baptism.  I'll call it a day now.

Also in Edenbridge is Thomas Lampon aged 45, wife Elizabeth and 6 children (transcribed as Sampson). ALso a fellmonger, living in Scuts Lane

I think these are my Lampons. This Thomas died in 1857.

Hello,

Just discoverd this forum after discovering that the census records showing that Charles was born in 'Tunbridge' (either Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells I guess). Has anybody researched his birth family in Kent and got any further information?

Regards,

Giles Allen
