Golden Bay Argus to be digitised by PapersPast
« on: Wednesday 06 September 17 20:54 BST (UK) »
I'm happy to announce that 6,991 pages of the "Golden Bay Argus", covering years from 1883 to 1911, are to be digitised by PapersPast and should appear online about June of next year, 2018.

This is the result of a collaboration and 50/50 cost split between National Library and the Golden Bay Genealogy Group.

For those with an interest in the history of this part of the country, this will be a huge asset.

I recommend the Collaborative Digitisation Programme to anyone that has access to issues of old NZ newspapers that have not yet been digitised.

Good question, Twiggy and sorry I do not have a good answer  :D

The GB Argus was published in Collingwood, but I imagine it covered the whole of Golden Bay from Bainham to Upper Takaka. It may have also covered events in nearby Riwaka and Motueka.

We'll just have to be patient and wait until June next year to check my assumptions!
