Clara A CALLADINE married Alfred BLAND Ntm 7b 528 Sep 1911
« on: Thursday 07 September 17 10:06 BST (UK) »
I'm looking to establish whether these two people match two people already in my database. Is it possible therefore to look up a Parish register to confirm their ages and who their fathers were?

"My" Clara Ann CALLADINE was born in 1867.
Her younger sister Louisa Jane CALLADINE (b 1872) married George BLAND (b 1870) in 1898
The 1911 census shows still unmarried Clara living with George and Louisa.

George BLAND's  older brother, Alfred (b 1858) married Amelia COOK in 1893 but by 1911 he was a widower. He was also living 2 doors away from brother George in 1911.

It seems inconceivable that this would be a purely coincidence of names. "My" Clara's father's name was George; Alfred's father's name Thomas.

Many thanks

Alan

I might be on the right track or not, but here goes

George Wilkinson Calladine
married
Elizabeth Goode
1860 Roxburgh Scotland

Births registration of Louisa Jane  and Clara Ann has mother's maiden name Goode,

Clara Ann plus another child baptised in St James Edmonton  named Elizabeth Caroline in 1867, father George Wilkinson Calladine and Elizabeth

1871census
George Calladine aged 40 born Notts
Elizabeth Leics
Elizabeth Enfield 6
Clara Ann 4 Enfield
John 1 Notts
George 1mth

1891 census Nottingham shows
Elizabeth Calladine aged 53 shown as married although records appear George died in 1879
Clara A born London aged 24
Louisa J  born Nottingham 19

George Wilkinson Calladine shows death 1879 aged 48

I do not know how much info you have on the family, I am inclined to be over exuberant and get carried away so will now leave it to you to reply as to how much info you already have

Happy Hunting

Louisa Maud

Hi Louisa

Yes, I had most of that info on the family. I hadn't picked up the marriage in Scotland though. I wonder what a pair from the midlands was doing up there!

Many thanks

Hi Trish

Yes, I'd picked up the 1939 register entry. Took me a while to determine that the younger "Clara D" Bland was the daughter of Clara A (Calladine) Bland's sister Louisa J (Calladine) Bland. This "Clara D" had been listed in the earlier censuses as Doris Bland.

Without site of the 1911 marriage certificate I will assume that I am looking at the same Alfred Bland and Clara Calladine!

Many thanks

Family search have most of the baptisms for more children to George Wilkinson and Elizabeth Goode

I should imagine his employment took him to Scotland, he was shown as being in the Jute industry I believe

I haven't seen the 1861 census but George is entered (unusually?) as both a butcher and a framework knitter in 1851 and as a framework knitter in 1871.

Looked just now on Scotlands People: The 1860 marriage is confirmed in Hawick but no evidence of the couple in the 1861 census there
