I don't know why you worrying about the Prescot birth  :-\ .   :)
It is registered in the Dec qtr 1840.
Census was taken 6th June 1841.  The Prescot William who appears on census to be with a single woman is 7 months which would tie in with that registration.

The baptism that I found earlier gave mother as Ann not Mary and was in Liverpool.
