George Bowler death record
« on: Friday 08 September 17 23:13 BST (UK) »
George Bowler, my 2xgreat grandfather was born in 1824 at Burneston, North Yorkshire. He married Mary Elliott, his first cousin, on 31 December 1846 at St Peter,s Leeds. The last reference I have, is the 1851 census which shows him as a boarder in Exeter, St David, Devon. Mary is at Hunslet, Leeds with their first son Thomas. I can't find George in the 1861 census, Mary is again in Hunslet now with their two sons, she is recorded as a widow. The second son George William was born on 9 April 1855, so I have been searching for George's death between August 1854 and the 1861 census, but with no success. George was an engineer and the 1851 census shows him to be a railway engineer.
Grateful for any help.
Bowler, Bridges, Delve, Elliott, Ford, Hare, Hargreave, Hewitt, Kellett, James, Mitchell, Pritchard, Smith, Wilson

Freebmd shows 15 deaths for George Bowler between 1854-1861 but no ages shown

You can narrow it down by checking the age at death on the GRO website

If you have bought certs from GRO you will have created a login and password - if not you will have to register which is free

All searches are free and you just need to use the info found on freebmd against those 15 entries

Just about to suggest the same as Carole. Remember if he was a railway engineer he could have died anywhere in the country.
