Hi, I am new to this so please excuse me if I miss any protocols.  I am trying to trace my grandfathers family in Wales and am drawing a complete blank. I am searching for Benjamin Jakeman who was born in 1920 whose mothers surname was Davies. That is all the information I have been able to get so far and wondered if anyone could help?  He had two brothers, Charles and Alf (possibly Alfred).

Looking at FreeBMD there is a birth record of a Benjamin L Jakeman with mother's maiden name Davies in Sept Qtr 1920  Neath   Vol 11a Page 2015   This area covers Port Talbot   His parents names would be included on the birth cert

Looking at other Jakeman births in Neath with mothers maiden name Davies there are the following which could be from the same parents

Harriett Ann Jakeman 1911
Edith Lavinia Jakeman 1912
Joseph Alfred Richard Jakeman 1914
Charles Henry Jakeman 1915

And a possible marriage for the parents in Neath - Joseph Jakeman to Edith May Davies March Qtr Neath  Neath Vol 11a   Page 1151  who should be together on the 1911 census but this is just a thought

Your really need to start with your grandfather's birth cert or if you already have his marriage cert to your grandmother this should confirm his father's name   Certificates can be ordered for £9.25 from the General Record Office www.gro.gov.uk - You need to register to order a cert

The 1911 census you have to find yourself (copyright issues), but the place of birth matches, although the year of birth is out!
Probably because he is living with his in-laws, and his bride is somewhat younger!
