Help with reading census please
« on: Saturday 09 September 17 16:49 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Please could someone help me read this census extract? It's for a relative that lived round Deptford, London at the time. I originally thought his place of birth was Langford, Essex but I can't find any records suggesting that to be true. The g is missing from Langford on the entry, and I cant quite see what's underneath the tick for the borough. I've since thought it was Langford, Bedfordshire, but I can't get any where with that either. Was there somewhere called Lanford that I'm missing?

Also, is anyone able to read the squiggle next to his occupation please?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Thanks,
Ellie

Another vote for Essex, and it does look as though it might mean Langford.

I agree with Gardener domestic, I think the place could possibly be Lawford near Manningtree, Essex.

Thank you all for your help. I don't think I'm getting anywhere with the location from the records, but thanks anyway!

Census, indexes, parish etc. Can't get anything to tie up so I've had to abandon, with the plan to come back to it at another stage.
