Scotland Aberdeen St Fergus 1796 decipher place name please
« on: Saturday 09 September 17 21:44 BST (UK) »
Hi all
Can those either with knowledge of handwriting or knowledge of St Fergus, help me with a place name on this image. It appears three times and looks like SOUTHEGRIE or something similar.
Many thanks.

I think it might be South Essie, with the old style fs for double s. See www.abdnet.co.uk/genuki/BAN/Stfergus/locations.html

Thank you for the double S . That would fit in well with future years where one of the branch was living at Essie.
