Thanks so much for the updates, appreciate. Edmund and Alice as you say married 1865 have a child Martha Alice in 1869. In 1871 Alice is with her grandparents on census at Spotland and it states she was born Stacksteads.Nearby Edmund and Alice are on census at Spotland. Edmund a Labourer and says born Cowpe. In 1881 Edmund and daughter are with his Mother in Spotland and he is a Stone Quarry Man. (He states Single)He also says born Newchurch which is near enough the same as Cowpe.Alice is with her mother (Mercer) in Spotland stating she is married...but
no husband with her.Was it harmonious or acrimonious or just convenient. In all probability Edmund dies early  in 1887 age 46. (Your own best guess)he is buried 2nd April  at St Nicholas Church in Newchurch .Abode given as Blackwood which I think is Stacksteads area. May be they will have some details on him at place of his final rest St Nicholas? Im just thinking outloud if we can get a confirmation it was Teddy The Champion.

yeah I am sure its him...I just found article on BNA which calls Mr. Edmund Law - famous wrestler. Did he have any other children besides Martha Alice? is it possible to trace if he has any descendants you think?

Hi I would not presume that Martha Alice Law is the daughter of Edmund & Alice, her birth registration June qtr 1870 Rochdale 8c 102 shows No mothers maiden name, Sarah Law 29 in 1871 a likely candidate?!

Ok, sounds reasonable, I'll take it. Do you know of any children Edmund and Alice had together?

yeah makes sense Betty Law was Edmund's mother, and yes it looks like she was a widow. But in 1881 I have Ed Law and his daughter in 1881 with his Mother in Spotland.... and he is a
Stone Quarry Man. (He states Single)
