Elijah Hodson and Mary Eden marriage
« on: Sunday 10 September 17 22:04 BST (UK) »
Hello there,

I'm trying unsuccessfully to find a marriage between Elijah Hodson (b. 1807 Manchester) and Mary Eden (b. 1808 St Helens, Lancashire). I have found them on 1851 census in St Helens and they had the following children:- Eliza Hodson 1838, Coventry, John 1841, Leeds and Charlotte 1848, St Helens. I have marriages for all the children.
Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard
I can't find anything for Hodson but there is a marriage on Ancestry for Mary Eden marrying Elijah Sampson on 11 July 1830 in Warrington, Lancashire
Could be that it was transcribed wrongly....
Good luck
Karen
Forrest - Blantyre
McLellan - Dumfriesshire
McCracken - Dumfriesshire
Harkness - Dumfriesshire
Adamson - Dumfriesshire

Hi there sgf28,

Thanks for the info. I can see why you suggested it but after looking at other trees on Ancestry etc and further info I don't think it's the correct marriage for me.

Best wishes and thanks again,
Richard

Many thanks, that adds to the intrigue haha. I do have the birth certificate for Charlotte which is where I got the parents from. I'm guessing he could have been married before then as Charlotte was the 3rd child. I have Mary with the 3 children at Stanley Street, St Helens on the 1861 census. It says Mary is the head but looks like it says married to me and no Elijah. I have found them on the 1851 census in St Helens but can't find them on the 1841 census which I guess would be a big help?

Many thanks,
Richard
