Violet Piercy World renowned Marathon Runner b. 1890 Croydon - last 'sighting' living in Battersea and Wandsworth in 1958.

Her parents George and Louisa Piercy bd in Croydon Cemetery - George in 1891.

Have posted about her previously but no luck in tracing her after 1958.

Hi Carole

The OP has the death cert for this Violet P

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=732197.msg5772650#msg5772650

There is also an Administration record for her that was dealt with in 1974, maybe that would hold some clues

Hi Zetlander - always helpful to post links to any other posts about the same person as it saves duplication of info.  Are you saying the 1972 death cert is not the right Violet as the Wiki link suggests otherwise.

If you are satisfied that the death cert is correct - then you have traced her after 1958

Interesting, that.  An ancestor of mine was a Piercy from Northumberland.  He married in Manchester as Pearson, then mutated through Pearcy and Pearcey before settling on Percy in Liverpool. He probably couldn't read, and was subject to the interpretations of his accent by Lancastrians ....
