Do you know of any link/website that has Kelly's street directory of residents for 1872-1880 for:
Battersea
Kingston

The University of Leicester, Special Collections, has a whole host of Trade Directories, Kelley's, etc. but lacks London in the 1870s.

If not, would a public library in the areas have them for computer use?
I am still trying to locate my great grandfather for these years. I know the rest for him, 1841-1890.

Thanks. But many cites are from telephone books or other sources after the 1870 period. And a couple I tried were prevented use because of unsafe notes about malware.

There are microfilms of directories of the period at LMA. Not online though.

The London Metropolitan Archives hold much useful information. See:

I have found them very helpful both over the phone and by email. One of the Advisors there recently looked up my Grandparent's Burial location for me. Why don't you try emailing them?

Battersea and Kingston are in Kelly's 1878 Surrey Directory. But not with street by street listings, it has the usual private residents and commercial lists. That is online.

For Battersea then you'd probably need the London Suburban Directories.

Thanks for the tips. After looking at both, I can seek that my question makes the 1870s too early. But, the idea that Ancestry might have poorhouse records for earlier years is worth investigating. My great grandmother spent her early childhood in one.
