Joseph King
« on: Monday 11 September 17 17:09 BST (UK) »
Hello
Can you please help: Joseph King was born in Merthyr Tydfil about 1860. He emigrated to America WHEN  and married American-born Mary Ann (known as Polly). Their three daughters, Elizabeth (Lizzie), Annie and Mary Ann (known as Maisie) were born in America, in 1883, 1888 and 1890 respectively. When Maisie was about 3, father Joseph King inherited estate in Rhymney and took the family to his native land.

Looking for details of the ship etc that carried Joseph to America and the return voyage back to UK

Thanks you

Did the youngest daughter Mary Ann (b.1890) get married and eventually move back to the States?

Here's what I'm seeing.

1901 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSMZ-LF9

The mother Mary Ann is listed as born 1866 United States.

1911 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWX3-X1Z

There is a Joseph King in Liberty, Trumbull, Ohio in 1880 listed as single from Wales. There is also a William King listed with him about the same age. Did he have a brother?

1880 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M83M-RHN

There is a Mary Ann Latham in Liberty, Trumbull, Ohio in 1880 listed as single and born 1866.

1880 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M83M-1VH

I see a Mary Ann Cooper who died in 1927 Girard, Trumbull, Ohio. Parents Joseph King and Mary Latherman. Spouse Walter Cooper.

OH Deaths: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X64Y-2PF

In 1930 census Walter Cooper is widowed and living with mother-in-law Mary King and widowed sister-in-law Elizabeth Williams. Both Walter and his two children were born in Wales.

I belive this could be Joseph's brother William from the 1880 census previously posted. He is married to an Elizabeth and has a daughter Mary E. born in Ohio.

The 1900 census states he immigrated in 1878, which would match the correct time frame based on his age in the 1880 census. I would assume William and Joesph probably came together.

1900 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M33K-YSN

The daughter Mary E listed appears to have been born in Trumbull, Ohio.

Birth record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X6CV-S7S

I see the son Edward W. listed moved back to Trumbull, Ohio

Marriage: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XDDL-2H5

Hello RJ137
That's brilliant and I am very grateful for the information.  On the 1930 census, young Olga is 12 years of age.  In 1942, she married, "Olga Elizabeth Cooper" to ? Hoier.  Can you please find his first name.
