Holmes family 1871
« on: Monday 11 September 17 20:31 BST (UK) »
James Holmes and Harriet ( don't know surname ? He was born abt 1819 Kent and she was born abt 1836 Surrey.
Their kids were marella b 1854
Thomas .s. 1850
Hezekiah    1865
Bendigo       1869
Christiana    1871 - 1875
They were all born around Kent and Surrey. They are found all together on the 1871 census . Marella and William miley and their kids are on the 1891 and 1901 census at court farm in warlingham . I know nothing about James Holmes parents or harriets.  This information is all I have !!! There is another thread on this site started by jtoot my dad !!!! It was posted before 2010 and I'm hoping that someone has started researching their family and has some information about them for me !!!
I think my dad may have thought they were smiths or lees and lied on the census about being Holmes but how would we know !!! If anyone has any ideas pls reply I'd love to find out more !!!!

hello Rebecca

a  long time ago it was told to me that the Gipsy Holmes split up, this was maybe before the times of the census records, one side of their Family went down to the south of England, I know this information may not relate to your Relatives, this is just old oral history talk that you will never find anywhere else, if you read through my writings on Rootschat you will find more information on the Gipsy Holmes from up this way, it would be nice to think this information helped you, if not good luck in your search,

Regards

michael

Hi Rebecca

if you look on page 48 on the posts that say Gipsy Dan Boswell just below this post you will read of the  Gipsy Holmes from up this way, you don't ever have to apologise about nothing to me, I am very pleased to meet you, I was just drawn to your post by what you said, it is the truth tho, there was from long ago People known as the Gipsy Holmes,  I was told they are connected to the Smiths, the Holmes really did split and one of there Old Relatives set up a Family line down the south, so I would say there is a very strong chance all the Gipsy Holmes from the south come from the Gipsys I speak of, I may be wrong of course, I do remember talking to a Lady in Bognor Regis in the 90s, She had a fortune-telling booth on the sea front, I was just having a friendly chat to Her, She said in reply to me that the only name I was talking about was the name Holmes, in regards to Gipsy People from down the south, who is who and how or evan if  they are Connected or Related I do not know, all I can do is to try and help you, maybe nothing I say relates to your researchers, but still I hope I have been of help

Regards

michael
