Thanks Peter.  It's amazing how my mom saved these grainy negatives.  I'm grateful she did. Even though it's hard to tell who they are, I'm fairly convinced who they are.  The man in the boat is definitely my dad and I think that's my little sister.  I've never known of my Dad being in a row boat but this proves it.

  I think you're right that it's a cat. Thanks for pointing that out. Since the woman, whom I believe to be my paternal grandmother, probably would never have had a cat of her own, that helps me better pinpoint the location - or at least eliminate a location.

No better, but had a go:
  Your interpretation of the boat picture makes it even more obvious to me that it's my Dad and my kid sister.  That's a treat to see as I never knew him to have any interest in being in a boat.

The other pic is so grainy that it's really hard to tell much but I appreciate the effort.
