There are scanners that give good results from negatives, some are quite cheap. It may be worth investing if you have a lot of negatives, ;

Briliant idea YT . . . .  must say I achieved good results with my old scanner which converted negatives.  Pity this new machine won't accept the old scanner.
Might have to invest in one like this!
Gaunt, Ransom, McNally, Stanfield, Kimberley. (Tasmania)
Brown, Johnstone, Eskdale, Brand  (Dumfriesshire,  Scotland)
Booth, Bruerton, Deakin, Wilkes, Kimberley
(Warwicks, Staffords)
Gaunt (Yorks)
Percy, Dunning, Hyne, Grigg, Farley (Devon, UK)
Duncan (Fife, Devon), Hugh, Blee (Cornwall)
Green, Mansfield, (Herts)
Cavenaugh, Ransom (Middlesex)

I only have a handful of negatives now but I do have access to what might be a better scanner at our computer center.  I'll give that a try.

thanks
