Hospital Birth Registers In 1941
« on: Tuesday 12 September 17 16:41 BST (UK) »
Hi There,
Please can someone help me and point in the right direction, on where i can find the hospital registers for Farnham Hospital in Farnham, Surrey.
My mother-in-law was born in 1941 at Farnham Hospital, Farnham, Surrey, and  she has asked me what father's name is on the hospital register.

I've been told hospital registers only took in expecting mothers if they give the father's name, my mother-in-law has her birth certificate with no fathers name.
Regards

I doubt that you will be able to access any information online as it is less than 100 years.

If the hospital only took in those who named the fathers did they turn away those who didn't  ::)  Hospitals in those days were often infirmaries attached to the workhouse.

The Farnham Union Infirmary closed circa 1929.
Believe it then became Farnham County Hospital 1929-1948, to around  the start of the National Health Service, when renamed again.

If there is no father named on the birth certificate, it is worth bearing in mind that anyone named in the hospital register is highly likely to be fictional.
