Date please, and are these all girls?
« on: Tuesday 12 September 17 22:39 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I've been sent this unidentified photograph and wonder if it can be roughly dated please.  Also, are they all or girls or is the small child actually a boy?

Thank you.

I'm sure experts will be along soon who might be able to help more, but the littlest one certainly looks like what my grandfather was wearing in a photo I have of him in 1900.  :)

Going on the hair ribbons 2 females and a don't know. The boys tended to be dressed in dresses for some time.

Perhaps someone know better than I do.  ;D

Two girls and a boy. Girls are wearing bows in their hair.  :)

Thank you for this. I know it can be difficult but anyway of dating a little more narrowly?  I thought this could be as late as 1930 but don't know.

I would say a little earlier than 1930. Boys wore dresses as it was easier for toilet training, sometimes until about the age of seven. They were 'breached' when they could cope with the buttons on trousers, no zips in those days!!. It lasted until about 1910 when the fashion of boys wearing dresses seemed to die out and was finally finished by WW1.
I have tidied up the photo for you

I thought the tallest was a girl and the other two could be boys....I have seen boys with hair ribbons in other photos....the smallest doesn't have enough hair for a ribbon. I could be wrong though. My guess would be 1915/20
