Looking for Doreen Barbara SCOTT
« on: Wednesday 13 September 17 12:11 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. I am looking for any information about Doreen Barbara SCOTT who left UK on 22nd October 1954 on the 'Warwick Castle' from Plymouth bound for Mombasa, Kenya. Destination Kenya Colony. I can find no record of her returning to UK but have no idea how to research her online in Kenya. Did she marry or die out there? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would be most grateful, I have been looking for her for over 10 years now without success. Thank you in anticipation.

Quick look on FindMyPast but no luck.

What was her date of birth and where was she born?

Hi
I realise that she is under 100 years old but I also know for sure that she died sometime in the 50's or maybe 60's? She has no living relatives that I know of, I am her half-sister through my father. Unfortunately by the time I found out about her my father had died so cannot ask him! She was born November 18th 1929 in Birmingham. There at no records of her marrying or dying in this country, believe me I know, I have got a copy of every single possible marriage certificate that could have been her. I was just hoping someone out there would know how to research Kenyan records but maybe I will just have to ask the High Commission in Nairobi. Worth a shot! Thanks anyway all who answered me.

Hi,
I have been searching for details of a relative who went to Kenya in the 50's for years as well. The records there seem to be non existent or they do not want to divulge them, I tried tha high commissioner several times and got no replies. The 50's was the time of Mau Mau and I'm pretty sure there is an embargo on government records for that period.

I think you maybe right about that, but I will try the high commisision just in case. If I have any joy I'll post it on here. What we both need is someone who's visiting Kenya to look it up in person for us. Won't hold my breath on that one.
