Maggie Cameron & Edward Noble marriage
« on: Thursday 14 September 17 02:23 BST (UK) »
On my grandmother's 1911 Toronto, Candida, birth record, it shows her birth parents to be Maggie Cameron & Edward Noble, married Feb 12 1906 in Scotland. I think Fredenburgh, but can't find any record of this marriage. Nor can I find any information on what happened to them after my grandmother was born. I know Maggie had two more sons, William in 1913 and Harold(?) in 1915, with a man with the surname 'Smith', but not too long after my grandmother was adopted and the boys grew up in an orphanage here in Ontario.

Any help appreciated!

Scotland's People have only one Cameron/Noble marriage in 1906 +/- 2 years and they are Agnes Cameron/James Noble and it occurred in Canongate (Edinburgh).  This marriage occurred on the 11 April 1906 and she was a Widow.  Her maiden name seems to be Bailey.

Were any of the children born in Scotland and if so do you know the years.

Hi
On the 1911 census there is in Toronto
Maggie Noble born Sep 1885 from Scotland waitress in a resturant lodging with other waitresses but single.
She's the only one from Scotland.
Meanwhile there is a Edward Watt Noble born Feb 1885 living in Campbell Avenue Chambley Quebec with his wife Isabel 26 and one year old daughter Isabel. They arrived in Canada from Scotland 1906.
He was born in Fraserborough and describes himself as a newspaper man.
He is tragically killed at the end of WW1 26.10.1918 and his effects are sent to his wife.
They would fit some of the facts you have but obviously may not be them.

A few more facts about the younger children would help.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

I'm guessing that they may have lied on the birth record then.
All 3 children were born in Ontario, Canada to Maggie, my grandmother's first last name (before adoption) was Noble. I don't have any of the information previous to their move to Toronto.

Thank you so much for this information. I'm now suspicious that Maggie lied on the birth record.

Hi Rosie!  Thanks so much.

This is my grandmother's birth, yes. My grandmother married a Swinbourne (for which I have loads of info)

My grandmother had two younger half brothers with last name Smith. She was adopted out to Sarah and Hiram Fredenburgh sometime around age 5-7, and both the boys went to an orphanage.

The timing fits for my grandmother's adoption. We think the children were given up due to her death, but unsure.
