Going back from Thomas Knight
« on: Thursday 14 September 17 14:28 BST (UK) »
Trying to take my Knights back to Thomas' parents. It seems quite likely that they were Francis and Mary who had two children in Ashby de la Zouch, Ann in 1790 and Thomas in 1792. their other children Sarah 1804, William 1807, Harriet 1811 died 1812 and Joseph 1813 were all born in the All Saints district of Leicester

Francis was living in Frog Island when he died in 1837 . (Think this was mistranscribed as Irvy Island) and Mary was living in Frog Island with her married daughter Ann Johnson and family in 1841 where she died later that year.

What I can't currently trace is a marriage for Francis and Mary nor any parents for them. I am also struggling to find any details for Sarah, William or Joseph Knight beyond their christening dates.

Thomas also appears to be missing from the 1841 and 1851 census returns only resurfacing in 1861 a few years befiore his death.

Just wondering if anyone can find any trace of my earlier Knights or anything that may tie them in with Thomas for certain please.
Knight, Bates, Newton, Pick,Perkins, Marshall, North, Kilby, Beckett, Prince.

Maybe  :-\ :-\

Repton - 1789 (no date given) 23 September - Francis Knight and Mary Rawlett - 8 miles from Repton to Ashby.

Stoke on Trent, St Peter Ad Vincula - Francis Knight of the parish of SoT and Mary James, by Banns, 28 December 1789.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you BumbleB, those two sound like possibles, especially the Repton one as it is so close.  :)

Looking at the Repton marriage I have found a Mary Rawlet born in Ashby de la Zouch and christened on 3rd December 1769.
Her parents were Thomas Rawlet of Ashby de la Zouch christened 1st July 1733 (the son of Richard Rawlett. I can't trace Richard's birth.) and Hannah Smith, who married Thomas Rawlet in Ashby de la Zouch on 1st May 1768.

Thomas had a son, Thomas christened on 6th July 1762 so may have been married before he married Hannah. The other children were born in 1775, 1779 and 1781 All were born in Ashby de la Zouch.

Richard Rawlet had at least 5 children including Thomas all born Ashby too but I can't trace his marriage nor his birth.

I think Francis and Mary Rawlatt sound like my family because Mary was born in Ashby but I don't know how she ended up marrying in Repton unless she had moved there for work.  :-\

Hi me again
The first child for Richard Rawlett I can see is Mary 24.4.1726
so perhaps

Richard Rawlett s of Nathaniel 1.11.1692 Ashby de la Zouch could be him
Still can't see a marriage though.

Looks like Sarah Knight married Abraham Jarman 8.4.1822 Leicester All saints
And 1861 census brother Joseph is with her frame w Knitter George St Leicester.
Thomas is at 65 Bedford St 1851 lodger wolcomber Adl Z age 68
