My Adoptive family was the first tree I did, I found that a lot of people shared my info on the web so made it private, I only open to confirmed 'family' members, I started my Blood family tree out of curiosity after sending off for my original Birth cert, I have since found out I have 2 half sisters and 3 half brothers living 15 miles away ! I have always kept this tree private as well. If I get a request for me to open my tree I always ask which tree and check that they match either by looking at their tree (public) or asking for the person they are interested in.

Jane that sounds a great way to go about it
My nephew and neice have always known about their half sisters from their father's marriage but have never been interested in getting to know him or them

I think my nan would have wanted to meet her half siblings .
