Help with insignia please
« on: Thursday 14 September 17 16:44 BST (UK) »
Is it possible for someone to identify this man's uniform.

My guess would be that he is from the RAF/RFC but I have very limited experience on this subject.

This picture is in amongst some family pictures but is unidentified.

He could be William James Depree born 1881

I'm afraid your photo hasn't attached.
Make sure it's under 500Kb. filesize & give it a unique name as all filenames are stored on here.

Couldn't attach saying that there already was an attachment, therefore I've started a new topic with hopefully an attachment.

Thanks

A William James Depree born 1881 Marylebone certainly served in the RAF as a clerk having first served in the RFC from August 1916.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=778910.msg6329401#msg6329401 same problem.

As Jim explained, you need to give your photo a unique filename. Its current filename has already been used on RC which is why you can't use it.

He appears to have his Pilot's wings but his cap badge looks more Naval than RFC.
Could be Fleet Air Arm 1924 on.

Might not be who the poster thinks he is. His cap badge looks Fleet Air Arm.
