You say "somewhere", but any idea of which country? Where did he spend his life after 1917?

You say "somewhere", but any idea of which country? Where did he spend his life after 1917?

He's given as dying in Grimsby in 1986 but may have lived in the Wrexham District of Denbighshire.

OK, so born 16 Sep 1917 according to the Grimsby death reg (abode was 59 Pamela Rd, Immingham, Grimsby according to probate records).  Have you used that birthdate to find him in 1939?

He may well have done.In fact its the Sylvia Hughes who is of interest to me.

Not sure if this is your man or not, but there is an Edward Patrick Flanagan listed in the Royal Artillery attestations 1883 to 1942.

The image shows:-  9.5.41(then an unreadable squiggle) Para. 390(XVll) - underneath in red capitals is the word COMMISSIONED
