2nd Boer war
« on: Saturday 16 September 17 10:04 BST (UK) »
Any chance this uniform could be a from The Second Boer War? And what age does the man look in this photo?

WW1, the man is wearing the utility uniform without pleats in the pockets which were issued, I think, 1915.

Jebber is correct of course. The woman is dressed typically late war 1916-18.
His cap badge is a bit fuzzy but could be Royal Engineers.

I agree about the cap badge, but it is too fuzzy to be absolutely certain.

Also unclear because of image, it looks as if he may be wearing Boer War medal ribbon.

Well spotted Jebber. Probably the Queen's as the ribbon looks darkish so served 1899-1901.
Maybe the poster can give us a name.

I'm unsure of the mans name could either be, Stephen Browning or Alfred Browning but can't find any record of either of them serving in either war tho.

I don't think he's your man as his service record states he was born 1886 a bit young for the Boer War.
His home address was Watchet Somerset.
His NOK is mother Sarah Jane Browning.
Can you give  us a high res. scan of his cap so we can be sure of his Regt.

Unfortunately I don't have the original photo, might be able to get in contact with my mums cousin to get a better copy. And my family were from West Ham if that helps at all?
