Pulling 'bits' together I am hoping to discover my 3rd great grandparents.

My great x 2 grandfather 'turned up' in Queensland Australia sometime before 1865.  I located an Immigration & Emigration Record for him that said he had applied  at Baden-Württemberg, Germany to emigrate  Apr 1857.  This record gives his date of birth 03 May 1837 at [i think] Oehringen, Langensall, Stuttgart.

I am unable to locate his entry to Australia however a newspaper article of of an unclaimed letter  at Rockhampton 1865 indicates he was in Queensland at that time.

I do not have access to an German records and hoping that some kind person may be able to find him/his family in perhaps Württemberg, Germany, Family Tables, 1550-1985 or any other record.

His death record noted his father was Johann Peter SCHUHKRAFT [although anglicised] and his mother as Mary STEENER but who is to know how accurate is that information?  He went by the name of George and one of his sons was called Peter and one Mary so it is possible the children were named after his parents.

Hi Westy

Hope all is well.
I took a look on Ancestry in the "Württemberg, Germany, Family Tables, 1550-1985" records and found nothing for Johann George that could be yours. There are though many SCHUHKRAFT surnames amongst them, even a couple Johann George records but seem to be of another family.

Hello Ian,

Thats a bummer.  I wonder if the actual Württemberg Immigration Index contains more than what is transcribed to the record I located?

It was a 'shot in the dark' I suppose.

Thanks once again for your advice Ian. :)

There is a similar record on Ancestry.

Here is a Johann George with parents (although 3 years earlier):

also

a Johann Peter Shuhkraft, born Langensall, marriage. Same parents as Johann above (could be something):

Hello Gill,

It sounds interesting. I am assuming the death for George is his Queensland death but his death certificate did not carry his mothers name of Rübmann.

Im not sure how to read the mothers name or what it is really saying especially as I thought her maiden name was Stenner.  Perhaps this is something to do with naming protocols in Germany??

Hi Westy
Looks like Mary was married before .  Rübmanns and Stenners are still living in Öhringen.
