John Marten CRIPPS 1808-??
« on: Sunday 17 September 17 10:33 BST (UK) »
He was born 22 Aug 1808 and baptised 23 Aug 1808 at All Saints Lewes, the eldest son and second child of John Marten CRIPPS and his wife Charlotte nee RUSH. He was received into the church in October.

Has anyone come across a death and burial for him as in 1818 at St Martins, Epsom, Surrey another son was was baptised, named John Marten CRIPPS. Had found a death date somewhere of 1816 but nothing to confirm it.

So far have not found any burial at All Saints Lewes, or St Martins Epsom. Other children were baptised at Epsom from 1812 onwards.

Anyone able to help.

Thanks

No month listed, but as Westmeston is a hamlet in the Lewes district possibly what you are looking for.

SFHG have the date as 28 April 1809 at St Martin.

They also have the burial of a John Martin Cripps on 08 Jan 1853 at St Martin with Other 'companion of Clerk the traveller.'

There is also the burial of a Ruth Marten Cripps on 07 Jan 1885 aged 71 (giving a birth year circa 1814) at St Martin with Other 'Novington.'  Another relative?

Thanks ..Claire.. and Artifis. That would be him.

John Marten CRIPPS buried in 1853 is his father, and he was a companion of CLARKE the traveller. They both married RUSH sisters.

Ruth Marten CRIPPS is actually Rush Marten CRIPPS and was another son.
