looking for a marriage of william/ eliza white possibly lived great yarmouth.son george possibly born 1869/70 cant find this either .have got a birth for a George johnson at this time but wrong parents. george came to nz and jumped ship( Sailing0 he married 1896 and claimed these were his parents names could be lies of coarse dont know name of ship. thanks lnr

Have you looked for George on the 1871 or 1881 census?  Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874/5 so it's possible his birth wasn't registered

Unfortunately Johnson is a very common surname and you don't seem certain of his birthplace

Have you tried using GRO online to find Johnson births with a mothers maiden name of White?  Registration is free as is any search

no sorry dont have much info on him. at all other than he said he was born great yarmouth abt 1870-1 he married 1891 nz died 1949 aged 79 oxford nz also known as "Sailor" johnson. his first child Charlotte Anne was born 1892 when george was 22 and he states yarmouth norfolk as his birthplace. thanks lnr

Could he be the George Johnson who in 1881 was a Scholar age 10 bn Gt Yarmouth
RG11 / 1946 f30 p3     I can't see him on the next census
