Edwards, frodesley
« on: Tuesday 19 September 17 18:06 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am looking up our local pub, the swan at frodesley, and Richard Edwards kept it from 1913 until 1917 when he drowned in longnor Brook.  In 1934 it was kept according to Kelly by Mary Jane edwards, who died from this address and was buried at frodesley I  1938. I am trying to discern if they were married as they are about the same age, but obviously I have no place of birth to find them on the 1911 census. Also in 1911 the swan was kept by James edwards, I haven't found richard as a relation yet but could he be? Please  can you help?
Thanks

You know who was there in 1911,
So start with him.
Where was he born, and when, and who were his siblings/ cousins.

The Birmingham Daily Post dated 5 September 1917 reported the death of Richard Edwards (58), the landlord of the Swan Inn, Frodesley, Salop. He was driving his horse and trap through Longnor Brook when he was carried away by the flooded current. He was seen struggling before disappearing in deep water. It was some hours before his body was recovered.
